Malta tour by Det Norske Sjoemannskor
Gozo's Gaulitanus Choir is presenting two concerts featuring Det Norske
Sjoemannskor (The Norwegian Seamen Choir). The first concert will be held at
the Gozo Cathedral, Victoria, on Thursday 2nd September at 19.15 hrs. A
lunchtime concert follows the day after, Friday 3rd September, at 12.30 hrs at
St. James' Church, Merchants Street, Valletta, Malta.
The Norwegian male choir will be presenting a variety of sacred works and will
be conducted by Jarle Flemvaag with Erik Bergene accompanying on the
accordion.
Both choirs are celebrating important anniversaries. While the Gozitan choir is
celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Norwegian one is celebrating its 50th one.
Indeed the latter have organized the Malta trip as a celebration of this big
event.
Det Norske Sjoemannskor choir is well-known in Norway having appeared
several times on radio and on TV. While they give around 20-25 performances
every year, pride of place is reserved to the annual memorial church service in
memory of those who lost their lives at sea.
Entrance for both the Gozo and Malta concerts is free.
